A Beginner's Guide to THCA Concentrates: Rosin, Resin, and Sauce

Concentrate names can get confusing fast. Rosin, resin, budder, sauce, diamonds — they can look alike in the jar but come from very different processes.

Rosin: Solventless and Simple

Rosin is made using only heat and pressure to squeeze the resinous oils directly out of flower or hash — no solvents involved. This makes it one of the purest concentrate types available, often prized for preserving a strain's true flavor.

Resin: Solvent-Based Extraction

Cured resin and live resin are typically made using a solvent like butane (BHO) to strip cannabinoids and terpenes from the plant material. Cured resin starts from dried, cured flower, while live resin uses fresh-frozen plant material to capture a brighter, more volatile terpene profile.

Sauce and Diamonds: A Textural Split

"Sauce" refers to the terpene-rich liquid that often separates from crystallized THCA "diamonds" during the extraction process. Some products combine both for a balance of potency (from the diamonds) and flavor (from the sauce).

Try Them Side by Side

Not sure which style you prefer? Our Rosin collection and BHO collection both offer a range of textures and extraction styles to explore.
